Hospice at Home West Cumbria works in close collaboration with the NHS and Adult Social care. We also work closely with other voluntary organisations in the West Cumbria area.
Macmillan Nurses There are five Macmillan Nurses in West Cumbria, who are Clinical Nurse Specialists in Palliative Care. They offer support and advice to seriously/terminally ill patients, their families and professionals involved in their care. They also help and support newly diagnosed cancer patients. They co-ordinate the care provided by the Hospice nurses and often refer patients to the Hospice. They are employed by the NHS. Information on local and national Support Groups can be obtained from the Macmillan Nurses or the Cancer Information centre at the West Cumberland Hospital at Whitehaven. Telephone 01946 693181.
