The Santa Dash is a new fundraising event for Hospice at Home West Cumbria. It will take place on Sunday 28th November, starting at 10.30am from Participants are asked to use the event to raise sponsorship money to help us with our work; we need to raise £7,500 every week if we are to cover the cost of providing our services and we want the Dash to make a substantial contribution to our funds. We hope that individual participants will raise a minimum of £20 in sponsorship money, or £40 for families. The Dash is an event that is both competitive and fun, with the emphasis on fun. It is a 3.5km run round two laps of a fully marshalled course in Cockermouth town centre, and just to make it harder everybody will have to run in a Santa suit! There will be prizes for the first finisher, the first junior (under 16) back, and the first family (including at least one adult and one junior under 10) to finish. All finishers will receive a special medal to commemorate the event, as well as a drink and something to eat. It costs £10 for adults to enter, and £5 for juniors under 16. All entrants will be given a Santa suit when they register for the event, and will have to wear this during the event. The event is open to adults, youngsters and families – in fact to everybody! If entrants are under 16 the entry form must be signed by a parent or guardian, and children under 10 must be accompanied at all times by a parent/guardian or by a responsible adult known to their parents or guardian. The Dash will start and finish in the school playground. Numbers are limited and it’s ‘first come, first served’ so to avoid disappointment please enter as soon as you can. Either complete the form below (but do read the note in red just above the formabout filling it in properly) or ring the office on 01900 873173 for a form. After the Santa Dash there will be a special Hospice at Home Christmas Fair in the school hall with stalls selling a wide range of goods including our special hospice Christmas Cards. The Fair will start at approximately 11.00am and run until 2.00pm. There will be no car parking available at the school, please use one of the nearby town centre car parks.
We do need people to help marshal the event; if you know of a willing volunteer please let us have their details.
Conditions of Entry This event is open to everyone, but all entrants who are under the age of 16 on the day of the event must have their entry form signed by a parent/guardian. Entrants under the age of 10 must be accompanied at all times by a parent/guardian or by a responsible adult known to their parents or guardian. Entrants must wear the Santa Suit provided to them at registration when competing in the Dash. Entry forms must be signed or confirmed online to indicate acceptance of these terms and conditions. Unsigned forms will be returned. If you enter and then find that you are unable to take part please let the organisers know so that your place can be allocated to someone else. You may not pass your place on to another person. You must follow instructions of walk officials at all times. The entry fee is not refundable. This is a fundraising event for Hospice at Home West
NB There is a problem with the on line entry form that means you cannot enter a mixture of adults and juniors on the same form. If you want to enter adults and juniors you will have to start the entry process twice.
For example to enter 2 adults and 3 juniors start by checking the 'adult' box iunder 'Registration Options' and putting 2 in the 'Qty' box and then click 'Register' and follow the process right through to payment. Then come back and start a new form, check the 'junior' box and put 3 in 'Qty' and do a second registration.
