What is a Macmillan Nurse? PDF Print E-mail
The name ‘Macmillan’ denotes that the nurses were originally funded for the first three years by Macmillan Cancer Relief Fund, the founder of which was Douglas Macmillan in 1911.

Macmillan Nurses are clinical nurse specialists, employed by the NHS and they provide advice and counselling direct to patients and their relatives/carers, also to colleagues, on all aspects of palliative care. The Macmillan Nurses work very closely with Hospice at Home and the Hospice Nurses.
